Version 2.0.10 Update - 05/09/2023
by Lonestar
I am done with the coding, just have to put the finishing touches on the theme, and I will get it out for testing, Will have to speak to coRpSE to find out, how long the testing phase will be, but it shouldnt take long, As I have extensively tersted all areas, The only areas / function I have not been able to test, is the email system, as this seems to differ between hosts.
Here are some screenshots from the new default theme coming with 2.0.10 update.
NOTE: I am not looking for any input on the theme at all, This is the default theme, it just to get you started.
Sorry for the poor screenshots, I used a browser plugin to grab these screenshots, it is not very good.

Looking really good Lonestar, great work.

Still no release.. 😲
When it is ready, it will be released, We are just two people.
I have mulitple medical conditions to deal with on a daily basis, I can only code for a couple of hours a day at most.
I do not mean this is a bad way, but if you can not wait, maybe Evo isnt for you.

Has it been handed over to coRpSE yet for testing.. or are you still putting the finishing touches to this new default theme you have now decided to use..
Not yet, still fixing the groups module, wont be long now.

Any updates on this..
We are in the final stages of testing, We have the update running on a PHP 8 website, so far it is doing great. We just need to install it on one more test server, just to verify it is working on another hosting supplier, then we will get the update out to everyone.
We meant to make this post last week, but with christmas and everythng coming up, just slipped our minds

Ok over the last few weeks, I have been keeping an eye on United Gamers Hub as they have been running the latest update of xtreme on PHP 8.2.
We have worked out most of the kinks in the code, and it seems to be running without issue, The one thing I did notice though is that some of the modules are generating a couple of errors, but are primarily undefined variables and what not, nothing to be too concerned about, they do not stop the modules from working at all.
So I am just finishing up a few fixes with those, I am trying to not spend too much time on the module fixes, as most if not all modules are getting remade anyways.
I have contaced Megaboost and ask him if he would mind running the new update, and he has agreed, Mega has always been good at providing feedback on modules and blocks and fixes that might need to be done. So we have chosen Mega to be the 2nd and last tester for the new update. I will be contacting him in a few days to update his site to the latest version. We will run the update on his site for a week and check for any further critical errors that would halt the UPDATE release.
I am in the process of updating his default theme to work with the new version of the CMS, I am about 80% done, just coding the last few areas of the forums and we can implement the update to his site.
Now a few things have changed in the coming update.
01. The default theme will now be BlackMagic, my current commercial theme in the store (So will now be removed from the store, no more purchase required. as theme will be free with the udpate)
Amendment: Those who purchased the blackmagic theme will recieve thr PRO version for free when itnis released.
But those that did not buy the blackmagic theme, will need to purchase the PRO version.
The PRO will have a lot more features, and custom module templates for each module.
02. The new light default theme I had been working on is taking me a little more time to get finished, So I will continue to work on that after the update is released.
03. Old Evo Donations module has been removed, for simply just been so out of date, plus we have the donatify module in the downloads section (Which will be getting remade in the coming weeks.)
04. New coding standards are been introduced, So anyone updating/creating & maintaining any blocks/modules or themes will have to follow these new standards, to keep the CMS nic and tidy and running without errors.
05. Live feed removed from the admin area, and a little more useless information has been removed.
06. The version checker for the CMS has also been removed, Due to a constant problem with the "no fopen" error, I have not spoken to coRpSE about this, but I want to try and use "Discord" to push any info about an update (I am not sure if the use of multiple Discord hooks is allowed, will have to look into this further.) but we do have a Evo Xtreme Community server now, if anyone is interested in joining.

Ok, about number "04". For the longest time, Nuke Evolution has just been slapped together with mods/plugins, blocks and modules, Making the coding one huge mess and very hard to try and debug. No comment blocks for functions where added, so you were solely left to wonder what the function actually does. That should now be a thing of the past.
We have tried our best to try and make sure, all functions now have comment blocks to tell you what the function is for, what if any variables/parameters do and what they are returning, whether it be an "array|string|int|boolean" I know a few people may not know what each of these are, but telling you in the function comment, allows you to google what is been returned and help you to better understand the coding.

We are hoping to have the update ready by the new year, So we can all start the new year on a fresh update, So fingers crossed.
We are sorry it has taken so long, there have been quite a few bumps and obstacles we have had to overcome in order to get this update done.
Here are a few thing we want to get done right after the udpate rolls out.
01. New Downloads module, will be renamed back to downloads, with the file repository been the default install for the last few years, I think it is time we just rename it back to just "Downloads".
02. New Accounts module, This will be an all in one module, integrating some of the others areas that are standalone right now (Private Messaging, Groups, Steam Profiles, Friends/buddy system, Clan Manager, Image hosting (no like the Image Repository, this will allow you to share images of yourself, pets, holiday snaps anything you want)).
03. New administration area, Will look similar to how the "WordPress" dashboard looks.
04. New Calendar. Will display users birthdays (if they have allowed it), will allow users to post "streaming" times and "events"
05. New Media plugin, Which will be the replacement for the attachments mod, which I have to say, is a ball ache, the coding is just all over the place. So we need something more reliable.
06. New hooks system, tried to get this ready for the 2.0.10 update, but too many modules needed updating to get this working right of the bat.
06. The anticipated new Forums module. Which will be made much versitile with the utilisation of the hooks system, no more core edits, just a button to click, to activate or deactivate a plugin.
I have many more to list, but this thread is already long enough, So I will leave you with this.
hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year, Thank you all for sticking with Nuke Evolution Xtreme

Thanks for the info, have a great christmas and new year Lonstar and all.

Yes, Thank you and have a great Christmas and New Year!
Have a great christmas and new year
Sorry for the late reply, I have been ill, but, to your question about:
This depends. I can write it so it could send multiple messages to multiple discords at once, but, we need to keep in mind that Discord's API has rate limits, so we would need to be careful not to exceed them. I don't know what they are, but using the broadcast system, probably wouldn't be the best if we wanted a way for others to get info that we release.
The best way I can think of is if we were to have a list that others registered and set up on their discords if they wanted the latest news, then we build a separate function that would push to the list, but using something like a CRON job or some sort of scheduler, where it would send one every X seconds apart so we don't go over the rates.
Overall, for now, just broadcasting to the Evo Discord is good enough for now.
