Okay, I have tested this both on my local and my live site and everything seems to be working as it should. I have attached the files for you to just download and upload to your site keeping the file structure as is.

PLEASE, make backup of the Shout_Box module and block just in case if you find something that is wrong.

What has changed:
  • Went through and updated all the old $db-> functions and updated it to the new.

  • Went through some of the old HTML and changed it to HTML5 compliant. I only did it inline and not in a separate CSS file, as this module will be getting a rewrite eventually.

  • Applied the original fix to the shout.php.

  • Applied the new fix for editing shouts that I posted.

Overall, it was just a quick minor changes along with in the block clearing out unnecessary global that are already called in the function. If you try this, let me know if you run into any issues.

Thankful People 5 user(s) is/are thankful for this post.

Anyone wondering, here are the diffcheckers, so you can see what has been changed:

modules/Shout_Box/shout.php - https://www.diffchecker.com/S61LeNWd/
modules/Shout_Box/index.php - https://www.diffchecker.com/wcyiLs77/
modules/Shout_Box/admin/index.php - https://www.diffchecker.com/6V3TLUli/

I didn't do the diffchecker for the block, if you really want to see that, you can do it your self. It was just a couple of lines changed.

--UPDATE--

This is my bad, I pack it up with a typo in one of the folder names. I already updated the attachment, but if you downloaded and updated from before I made this post, then open up your FTP and look in the root for a folder called "block" with no 's' at the end. If you have that, the file in there should go into the 'blocks' folder in your root.
