PHP2Shell: A Serious PHP Security Vulnerability
by coRpSE

A few days ago, it was brought to light that there was a serious security vulnerability called PHP2Shell, which affects PHP, the software that powers many websites, including Evo Xtreme, WordPress, Joomla, and many others. To put it simply, this vulnerability could potentially allow hackers to gain access to parts of your web server without needing a username or password. Depending on how the server is set up, they could steal sensitive information, modify website files, install backdoors, or cause other problems.
The scary part is that this isn't a flaw in the CMS or some poorly coded module. The problem is within PHP itself, meaning just about any website running a vulnerable PHP version could potentially be affected.
Security patches were released on October 21, 2026, but if you're running an older version of PHP, especially PHP 7.4, 8.0, or 8.1, you should contact your hosting provider to make sure they've taken the necessary steps to protect their servers.
I am not going to go too much into all the details here, but I did write up an article explaining what PHP2Shell is, the dangers, and some simple steps you can take to make sure your website is protected.
